Red Banner Order

The first Soviet decoration to be established, in 1918, and third in the ranking order of Soviet decorations, following the Order of Lenin and the Order of the October Revolution. According to its statute, the purpose of the Red Banner Order was to recognize “outstanding courage and valor in combat activity.”
