A cover name which, according to the Soviet defector Walter Krivitsky belonged to Valentin Markin, the Soviet OGPU foreign intelligence (INO) “illegalresident in the United States from 1932 to 1934. Previously, Markin had been an operative of Soviet military intelligence (then known as the Fourth Directorate of the staff of RKKA) between 1926 and 1929, when both he and Krivitsky were working in Germany).
