Norma

An NKVD foreign intelligence cover name in the late 1930s which appeared in the notes on KGB foreign intelligence files taken in the mid-1990s by the former KGB officer and journalist Alexander Vassiliev. This cover name was not identified in Vassiliev’s notebooks. From the context in which it appears, it was probably one of the cover names used for the service’s long-time courier, Catherine (Kitty) Harris. This seems particularly likely since the bearer of this pseudonym was identified earlier as Kitty Harris by three Russian authors with access to KGB records. Harris also worked under the cover names “Gypsy” and “Ada.”
