Order of Lenin

The Order of Lenin was the supreme award in the Soviet Union. Established in 1930, it was given to individuals and various entities (like factories, institutions, organizations, military units, battleships — and even territorial units, from republics to cities) for “exceptional achievements in the revolutionary movement, work, the defense of the socialist motherland, the development of friendship and cooperation between peoples of different nations, for strengthening peace and other outstanding merits.”
